There's something incredibly satisfying and anti-consumerist about wearing a pair of shoes to death. Although, these aren't ready for the bin yet. Next step: gaffa tape.
I remember a pair of boots that had new soles and heels, then when the sole came loose again, two elastic bands held it on for weeks. Unfortunately, the bands wore though when I was out with no replacements. Have you ever tried walking with a flapping sole? It had peeled off from the frontand I think looked pretty ridiculous! Probably not helped by the fact I found the noise it made hysterically funny. A few people crossed the road to avoid me... So go gaffer girl, but carry some spare with you...
My trainers are leaking, but it's the sole, so even after putting a liner inside of them, they are still soaking me, grrr. Now people wonder why I live in my DMs... 10 years on they still look good as new (or almost!)
Well done you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I feel the same way :)

Brilliant story Catherine! I've got a great mental image of the flapping sole!
ReplyDeleteNote to self: carry gaffa tape with me at all times.
